Research Interests

Judit Takács is a Research Professor at the Centre for Social Sciences, and an editor of the Socio.hu Social Science Review Hungarian journal. Her main research interests cover family practices, childlessness, the social history of homosexuality, homophobia and genderphobia. She has university degrees in History (ELTE) and Social Sciences (UvA), holds a Ph.D. in Sociology (BKÁE), a Diploma Habilitationis (ELTE), and the Doctor of Science title (awarded by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2019). She was the Hungarian research lead in several international and national research projects, including the Families and Societies (FP7), the RECWOWE: Reconciling Work and Welfare in Europe (FP6) and the HIV Prevention within High-Risk Social Networks I-II. projects. Since 2021 she is a member of the Momentum Reproductive Sociology Research Group. She has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, including AIDS; AIDS Education and Prevention; Archives of Sexual Behavior; BMC Public Health; Critical Social Policy; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; European Review of History; Families, Relationships, and Societies; Journal of Community Health; Journal of Homosexuality; Gender, Place & Culture; Politics and Governance; Sexualities; Sexuality Research and Social Policy; Social Inclusion; Social Politics; and Vaccine. Her most recent edited volume came out in 2022 at Routledge.
